Matcha Lemonade
Matcha Lemonade is the perfect summer drink. The intense umami of matcha meets the fresh acidity of lemon. Refreshing, lively, emerald green. Long a classic in Japanese cafés, still a discovery in Switzerland.
Ingredients (1 portion)
- 1-2g MatchaTime Organic Matcha (approx. 1-2 bamboo spoons)
- 50ml water (80°C)
- 150ml cold water or sparkling mineral water for a fizzy version
- Juice of half a lemon, freshly squeezed
- 1-2 tsp agave syrup or honey
- ice cubes
- Optional: slice of lemon and fresh mint to garnish
Preparation
1. sieve the matcha through a fine sieve, whisk with 50ml water at 80°C until a smooth, slightly frothy base is formed.
2. mix the agave syrup with the freshly squeezed lemon juice in a glass.
3. fill the glass with ice cubes, add cold water or mineral water.
4 Slowly pour the matcha over the top, do not stir immediately for visible layers.
5. garnish with a slice of lemon and mint. Stir gently before drinking.
Variations
Sparkling: carbonated mineral water instead of still water for a refreshing sparkling version.
Yuzu version: Yuzu juice instead of lemon for an authentic Japanese touch.
Pink Matcha Lemonade: A splash of raspberry or strawberry syrup for a pink layer.
