Dirty Matcha
For all those who love coffee but have discovered matcha. The Dirty Matcha combines an espresso shot with a creamy matcha latte. Two worlds, one glass, one extraordinary taste.
Ingredients (1 serving)
- 1-2g MatchaTime Organic Ceremonial Grade Matcha (approx. 1-2 bamboo spoons / chashaku)
- 50ml water (80°C)
- 150ml oat milk or whole milk
- 1 espresso shot (approx. 30ml)
- 1 tsp agave syrup or honey, optional
- Ice cubes for the cold version
Preparation
Cold (recommended):
1. sieve the matcha through a fine sieve, whisk vigorously with 50ml water at 80°C.
2. fill a tall glass with ice cubes.
3. pour the cold oat milk over the ice.
4 Slowly pour the matcha over a spoon.
5. freshly brew the espresso and also pour slowly over a spoon on top. Three layers are created: Milk, matcha, espresso.
6. stir gently before drinking or drink through all the layers.
Warm:
Whisk the matcha, froth the oat milk and pour into a cup. Slowly pour the espresso shot on top.
The taste
Bitter meets umami. The espresso brings a roasted aroma and intensity, the matcha brings depth and a grassy note, the milk combines everything creamily. If you like coffee and are curious about matcha, it's best to start here.
Tips
Ratio: more matcha, less espresso for a smoother start. More espresso for the classic dirty effect.
Caffeine: Matcha and espresso together provide a powerful energy boost, ideal for the morning.
Without an espresso machine: Use a strong ristretto from a mocha pot as an alternative.
